Summary:

This design is for the first phase of a wider regeneration and is the result of a design competition to assist The Homes & Communities Agency to deliver a legacy project on a heavily contaminated site that has been under remediation for 30 years. IDP’s winning design delivers a powerful network of ‘Avenue Streets’, the most dominant of which, reinstates an historic Avenue leading to a nearby stately home.

Our ‘urbanist architecture’ approach, considering: urban design; architecture & landscape as a single homogenous process, has enabled the language; placement and setting of buildings to be composed with strong rhythms and elegance throughout.

This site is also an example of IDP’s expert understanding of shared space design through detailed consideration of landscape detail, transportation function and character setting to create attractive high quality shared space streets and nodes.
