Summary:

The East of England Showground project offered a rare opportunity for placemaking at an exemplar level. The site is embedded within the existing fabric of the city and is highly connected to a wide range of transport options that create the basis for a highly sustainable and connected community. IDP worked with the client (AEPG Ltd) to develop a vision for an exemplar sustainable neighbourhood extension that would be considered nationally significant and would build upon the exciting growth momentum of the wider city of Peterborough. IDP delivered the outline masterplan, architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture and Ecology services for the project through our integrated design approach.
Our approach used the National Design Guide to guide how the design team to ensure the objectives of Climate, Character & Community criteria for a ‘Well-Designed Place’ are delivered within the design. Further, the principles of Building for a Healthy Life underpin the design process from the outset through to completion of the plan. This system has acted as the ‘golden thread’.
