Nuneaton

Barratt Homes

Project Value:

£120 million

Summary:

In partnership with Barratt, IDP are nearing completion the detailed design of this 850 unit residential regeneration masterplan. A timeline approach to the design creates a legible character incorporating regency style crescents, traditional vernacular lanes and an elegantly simple contemporary enclave.

With an aspiration to deliver a zero carbon enclave, this development has high sustainability ambitions including a biomass fuelled combined heat and power centre providing energy for the entire development. The design has been developed through a public consultation and steering group process which includes The Princes Foundation advising on approaches to vernacular design and traditional urbanism.

The site is technically challenging due to its steeply sloping topography, a feature which has been harnessed by creative architectural and street design to ensure that level changes are carefully set within the block structure and no longer define lifeless streets as has blighted the previous development form.
