Summary:

A prestigious 450 unit site, one of the government’s flagship millennium communities, conceived to promote the ideals of future living. The scheme promotes innovative building technologies, increased economic and social self-sufficiency, high urban design standards, and sustainable development principles.

The 40-hectare Millennium Community at Ketley, just outside Birmingham, consists of 850 dwellings of affordable housing, live/work units, a new primary school, offices, and retail and leisure services.

IDP has been commissioned to design the three remaining phases of the ‘Master Plan’, originally conceived by John Rowland Urban Design. Following on from precedents set by the earlier phases, house-types are contemporary and focus on a variety of brickwork styles.
