IDP appointed to deliver transformational works at St Mary's Guild Hall

22nd July 2019

IDP are proud to share we have been appointed to lead the design team to deliver the transformational works to the historic Grade I listed St Marys Guildhall in Coventry. Following on from the initial RIBA Stages 1 & 2 feasibility scheme designs and subsequent Coventry City Council (CCC) approval to proceed earlier this year, (https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/medieval-kitchen-marys-guildhall-coventry-15450197), we have now been reappointed to deliver RIBA Stages 3-7.

The schemes key design proposals, supported in principle by the CCC Conservation & Historic England teams, will rediscover the medieval kitchen, provide restoration & re-housing of the medieval tapestry, include the creation of a new kitchen and bar facilities, restoration of key building elements, fixtures and fittings and will improve the capacity of spaces to be used for educational purposes, corporate events and seminars.

Our goal is to ensure sensitive and considered design, increasing the heritage value of the site and enabling visitors to relive the medieval experience of such a unique, rich and historical Hall.

The project programme ensures an opening of the finished Guild Hall in time for Coventry’s City of Culture year in 2021.
